Welcome to The Invisible Disability and Me!
My name is Laura and I started this blog after being diagnosed with Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss in February 2014.
I am 29 years old and I love to travel where possible and to bake the odd cake or two! After receiving my SSHL diagnosis, I noticed the lack of blogs/reading material on hearing loss and the effect it can have on your life. I hope through this website you will be able to not only learn more about my hearing-loss journey but also get some advice and support along the way. I also hope to raise awareness of SSHL, Cochlear Implants and the charities that can help, as well as providing a useful resource for those going through, or simply learning about, this process.
Since creating this blog in 2014 I now have a Cochlear Implant and will feature regular updates regarding surgery, recovery and on-hand advice to those who need somebody to talk to.
Check out my blog posts to keep up-to-date with whats going on and feel free to check the resources on my other pages. If there is something specific you would like to see mentioned or would just like to get in touch, please do feel free to email me– I’m all (robot) ears!
